I am bringing this message to the folks that think that there are many avenues to a relationship with ‘God’
Throughout history, man has tried to find every way around the truth. They have developed their own ‘gods’ to worship…and designed ‘religions’ around them to worship their creation.
The Christian faith is different. I do not see it as ‘religion’ but as a ‘relationship’. I accept the God of the bible. And that makes this message relevant.
One must be very careful trying to find a way around the truth of scripture no matter how it might sound to someone.
Some folks in Christian circles are telling us that the message of a God…dying on a cross… sounds rather offensive or that it is simply not in good taste. They may even say that it is not politically correct for this day and age. One must be very careful trying to find a way around the truth of scripture no matter how it might sound to someone.
The apostle Paul wrote in 2 Corinthians 2:1–2. “And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God. For I determined not to know nothing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.”
That message is so pertinent and necessary for today. Why should we endeavor to make the message of the cross relevant in this contemporary world? This world is lost in sin for which we need forgiveness. We need a life-changing transformation. We need to understand that there is indeed an eternity!
The cross is the only method God chose for our forgiveness. “In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace.” (Ephesians 1:7).
The cross is the only way through which the Holy Spirit can transform our lives. “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you”. The Holy Spirit has a two-fold part in redemption. He convicts us of our sin. And He then leads us to repentance through the shed blood of Yeshua…Jesus!.
The cross is the only way to salvation. “Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” (Acts 4:12). God’s Word shows us that eternal life comes not by way of the church, a religious ceremony, or by going through some ritual. It only comes through believing in Yeshua as your personal Saviour, and what he did on the cross at a place called Calvary.
Our faith shows us that God does not have any other remedy! He does not have any other process for which we must follow. God’s remedy…God’s plan was by way of an old wooden cross, thrust into the earth at a place called Mount Calvary. A place bearing His Only Begotten Son…pierced by nails, and a sword through his side.
The relevancy of the cross stands sure, and even though man has rejected God and turned away, God’s love is never ceasing.
